Community Learning
Our Community Learning Programme enables you, and a whole host of other people, to get involved with workshops and courses which we run in partnership with other Brighton & Hove organisations such as The Friends Centre, Oxfam and BHCC Sustainability Team
The current focus of our work is to inspire and encourage people to ask questions about the big issues such as: climate change, water rights, world debt, poverty and fair trade as well as other topics that we all face across the globe.
We engage with people locally, highlighting the connections between their own lives with those of others throughout the world. In so doing we add to our collective learning - there are many ways to live and respond to life's challenges.
Currently, our Community Learning Programme includes:

Here at BPEC we are very excited about our new community engagement programme - Carbon Conversations.
The programme pivots around a small , supportive meeting for six, two hour sessions over three months. The six practical meetings are designed to help participants to halve their carbon footprint in a supportive and friendly way.
The six meetings look at why a low-carbon future is the only way forward, how to save energy in the home, better ways of trtavel and transport, food and water consumption and waste.
Carbon Conversations was nominated as one of the '20 most promising solutions to climate change' in 2009 for the Guardian's Manchester Report.
Most participants reeduce their carbon emissions by one tonne of CO2 immediately and make plans for long-term reductions, often halving their footprints.
The scheme is now run nationally and since 2011 has been run by the Climate Outreach and Information Network (COIN).
Have you been thinking of making realistic lifestyle changes but need a little more support? Why not attend one of our Carbon Conversations groups? Would you like to find out more about the programme?

This programme highlighted how people throughout the world, and people in Brighton & Hove, respond to climate change.
We joined the dots and connected the stories from individuals and community groups who have been forced to respond and adapt to extreme weather conditions: changing their lives.
The details of this project can now be found on the top menu of this site. This is an extremely valuable resource for anyone wanting to learn more about the issues surrounding climate change and the ways in which the project was delivered by the BPEC Team.
