A Global Day of Action: On 8 December not only can you travel to London to join a global demo on our generations most urgent issue, you can also do so on a special eco coach service organised by Brighton Climate Change and Brighton Peace And Environment Centre. Add your voice to this now-or-never protest and do so from a local perspective, travelling together from Brighton on buses provided by Big Lemon Buses, Brighton's environmentally friendly bus service ( (External) www.biglemon.com ). Tickets are available for £5 (or more if you can afford it) from BPEC, Sussex Students Union, Guarana Bar and Cowley Club. The main pick up points are St Peters Church at 8.30am and Sussex University at 8.45am.
(External) Household energy use accounts for almost half of the UK's total carbon emissions. Although recent government figures show that there has been some improvement, this has mainly been seen in the homes of owner occupiers and in the social sector. In privately rented properties carbon emissions are generally around 500kg greater than those in the rest of the housing sector.
The first public meeting of Transition Brighton & Hove took place on July 2007.
The Transition Network is a community response to the challenges of climate change and peak oil. The Transition Network exists to encourage local communities to act together in order to achieve a sustainable low energy future.
£1,000 council grants, (and a possible further £400 in government grant), are now available to homeowners* to help with the cost of installing solar water heating systems.
