There will be mulled wine and eco-treats galore at the launch of the 2009 Green Pages.
The Green Pages is a directory of green businesses and organisations – like the Yellow Pages, but green. With over 300 organisations listed, this year's edition provides a comprehensive guide to local environmental and ethical services, enabling everyone to make informed choices about where they spend their money, from planning a wedding to buying a printer cartridge.
(External) A must-do event for all environmentalists is the Climate March on Saturday 6th December. Speakers will include Nick Clegg (leader, Liberal Democrat Party), Caroline Lucas (leader, Green party), Michael Meacher (ex-Environment Minister) and George Monbiot (Honorary President, Campaign against Climate Change).
Indie/folk band Nimomashtic are no ordinary band. They want to change the world. In 2006 they walked 900 miles around England from one gig to the next planting apple and wildflower seeds and spreading their environmental message. In 2007 they walked from Brighton to the Eden Project playing 15 gigs along the way with the same eco message. Since then they've written a new album and in 2009 they plan to go even further by walking from Brighton all the way up Ben Nevis with a patio heater.
